Atrial fibrillation associated with a thyroid stimulating hormone-secreting adenoma of the pituitary gland leading to a presentation of acute cardiac decompensation: a case report

In a study to determine the ability of paramedics to generate or estimate safe endotracheal tube cuff pressure every paramedic inflated the cuff above the safe limit, and 87% could not detect an overinflated cuff by palpation of the pilot balloon. Prehosp Emerg Care 2007; Jul-Sep;11(3):307-11

Corticosteroids prevent AF after cardiac surgery

Intravenous corticosteroid adminsitration significantly reduces the incidence of AF in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, aortic valve replacement, or combined CABG surgery and aortic valve replacement. JAMA 2007; 297:1562-1567

Patients with first AF constitute high risk group for new ischemic events
