Guiseppe Sangiorgi is Assistant Professor and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Program at the University of Rome. He joined Centro Cuore Columbus and San Raffalee hospital at the beginning of 2003 as Associate Clinical Director and Clinical Research Director. He is now responsible for the peripheral programme in San Raffaele Hospital. In 2004 he became Medical Director of Mediolanum Cardiovascular Research, an independent contract research organisation performing clinical trials in cardiovascular medicine. Dr Sangiorgi is board-certified in cardiology and surgical pathology. He is a Fellow of the Italian Society of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the American Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention. He is also a member of the Working Group on Interventional Cardiology and Coronary Circulation of the ESC. He is author of approximately 90 medical papers in major international peer reviewed journals, approximately 400 abstracts in international and national meetings and several book chapters in major cardiology and interventional textbooks. He is Associate Editor of Cardiology International Journal and he is part of the editorial board of several medical journals. He is a graduate of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
